The Little Karoo, South Africa is home to an amazing array of flowers and succulents, the like of which is not found elsewhere in the world. This incredible treasure trove is bordered by the Swartberg and Outeniqua Mountains and a unique fossilised riverbed system runs through the property.
De Zeekoe is a working alfalfa farm, with 200 hectares of rolling landscapes where large herds of Springbok and Ostrich roam. Other animals that can be seen include antelope. Monkey and Otter as well as the fascinating Meerkat special tours booked well in advance can be arranged with Grant McIlrath of Meerkat Magic fame.
The drive to Oudtshoorn from Cape Town will take about 4 hours depending on traffic. From Cape Town to Oudtshoorn travel along the N2. Pass Swellendam, and head towards R324 to Barrydale.
From Barrydale travel on R62 to Ladismith. At Ladismith turn to Calitzdorp to the east. About 500m before entering the town of Oudtshoorn turn right on the R328 to Mossel Bay. Travel down the R328 for about 7km (4 miles) until reaching the De Zeekoe Guest Farm sign turn right onto a good gravel road for 2km (1.2 miles) to the main lodge.
The drive from Port Elizabeth to Oudtshoorn will take about 2 hours depending on traffic. From Port Elizabeth to Knysna travel along the N2. Travel straight through Knysna on the N2. Continue on the N2 to George and then take the R29 North towards Oudtshoorn, which is well sign posted and becomes R62.
Arrive in Oudtshoorn on Langenhoven Road. At the first traffic light turn left onto Voortrekker Rd. Travel through Oudtshoorn still on the R62. About 500m after leaving the town of Oudtshoorn turn left on the R328 to Mossel Bay. Travel down the R328 for about 7km (4 miles) until seeing the De Zeekoe Guest Farm sign, turn right onto a good gravel road for 2km (1.2 miles) to the main lodge.
